About the Item
The series 'Trespassing' explores encounters between human and nature. Human-made objects are placed into a landscape, where their interactions with the natural elements are recorded. In this piece Brodersen creates a slight glitch in the center of the landscape by shooting in a long exposure a piece of blue cloth floating in the wind. Brodersen is interested in recording the unseen and in this case the force of the wind.
Ole Brodersen grew up on a small island with 60 inhabitants, and his class only had 3 people, including himself. He became engulfed in the world of sailing as he was the son of a sailmaker and the grandson of a captain. He is educated as an art director from one of the top 10 creative schools in the world. Brodersen recently finished assisting the fine-art photographer Dag Alveng (represented at amongst others the MoMA and the Met). All his works are photographed on and around his home-island. He develops his negatives in the kitchen of his grandparents home from the 1850s.
